Insulated Plasterboard
Insulated plasterboard has become an important component
used for housing, due to the wide application possibilities and energy savings provided by them. Insulated
plasterboards are a type of plasterboard that has a layer of insulating foam flush with the rear side to improve
the thermal insulation of a room.
They are used to make walls and ceiling in all types of buildings.
They are also designed to be water resistant, which makes them suitable for use in flooding or leaky
environments.
Why you need insulated plasterboard?
Houses built pre 1920 were often built using solid walls. But, due to certain needs
and developments in technology, they are now often built using ‘cavity walls’. A ‘cavity wall’ is made of two
layers with a gap, known as a ‘cavity’, in between them. The cavity reduces the heat flow through the wall, so more
heat stays inside a room. Insulated plasterboards are used to provide thermal upgrading or better heat insulation,
of new and existing walls, and can thus be used to build new houses or to renovate and refurbish older houses and
buildings.
Insulated plasterboard can be used for a variety of wall types, such as
solid, cavity masonry and timber frame walls. Insulated plaster walls are designed to be easy to handle; there are
often standardized sized boards, thus making your installation process easier and thus easy to do.
These boards are built for cold weather conditions where heat conservation is an
important factor to consider while building. Since insulated plasterboards are designed to reduce the amount of
heat that will pass through them, they ensure a warm environment to live in, and also reduced energy costs. Also,
reduced energy costs ensure a lower carbon dioxide emission, ensuring that you’re doing what you can to reduce your
carbon footprint.
Insulated plaster boards are also built to be water resistant. This is a useful
feature to have, especially while insulating walls that are often exposed to wet environments, such as bathrooms or
kitchens. Also, with insulated plasterboard you will not have to worry about mould build up, which
can be a big health and safety concern.
Insulated plasterboards are an important to fixture to have, with benefits such as
energy savings, and water resistance.
